A Splinter of a Former Lifeforce

After the previous encounter in the library we found a door at the far side of the room. While Aeylin level 7 Eladrin Warlock was busy examining the statue of Vyrellis in the center of the library, Neiva level 7 Halfling Bard examined the door for traps. Behind the door was a small room occupied by a angel stone statue. It contained two closed wooden doors. We decided to explore a door located behind the stone statue. Behind the door two eaters of knowledge stood, guarding. Dizzy level 7 Human Ranger, Neiva and Kolodin level 7 Halfling Rogue reacted extremely fast to the threat and managed to kill the first guard before it had a chance to move at all.

The second guard lashed out at Kolodin with his scimitar. By luck Kolodin, still with momentum from his previous attack and stumbled on a crack in the floor, avoiding a blow to the head by a few inches. In the room with the stone statue a third guard rushed out through the second previously closed door. At the far end of the room behind a curtain a tiefling appeared, summoning a sword behind Kray level 7 Human Wizard, who sounded the alarm.

Retreat!

The tiefling sparked a chain lightning at Kolodin, who threw himself to the side avoiding damage. After having let Neiva and Kolodin past in the doorway Kray made sure no guards would stop him in his plans by throwing a thunder way down the corridor. After he closed the door and pulled his staff through the iron loop blocking the door from being opened. As a result of the lost eye contact the thielfing’s summoned sword disappeared.

A few seconds later the doors bursts into pieces, blasted by the thiefling. I (Splug level 3 Goblin Shaman) was hurt by the damage of the sword and Kray looked even worse, so I summoned my spirit pet and healed us both. The tiefling had now caught the attention of Vyrellis, who urged us.

There he is, a splinter of his former lifeforce. Destroy him and find the key!

It was now clear who we were dealing with. Kray conjured his flaming sphere and placed it right by Karavakos.

Karavakos teleported away from the flaming sphere. Dizzy level 7 Human Ranger sent out a splintering shot with such an impact that Karavkaos decided to return to the room where the flaming sphere, now in the corridor, had been. Karavakos cast a thunder wave pushing Aeylin close to the flaming sphere.

It was Kray who sent the last blow, a magic missile. When it struck The body transformed into a purple sphere which left the room at a very high speed, impossible to keep up with.
